The DIY guide to making funky fridge magnets

Make your fridge happy with a cool, cute or wacky fridge magnet made at home.

Want to make your fridge cool on the outside too? Fridge magnets can cheer up the coldest (pun intended) appliance in your kitchen. In case you didn’t know, they’re not so hard to make. Here’s a step-by-step guide that shows how.

Step 1

Take a rectangular piece of thick paper, or cardboard.

Step 2

Consider the design or figure for your fridge magnet, and draw the outline with a pencil.

Step 3

Paint the artwork with acrylic colours and allow it to dry.

Step 4

When the paint is completely dry, brush a thin layer of modge-podge and, let dry. The result is a glossy look to your artwork.

Step 5

Carefully cut out the artwork with a sharp scissor.

Step 6

Glue the magnet on the back.

Stick it up on your fridge and give yourself a pat on the back.

You can pretty much create any artwork for your fridge magnet. If you don’t wish to draw, make things easy by using small pictures for a fridge magnet – a photo of you, a loved one or a family member, your favourite animal, flower, butterfly – only your imagination is the limit.

If you discover you’re good at making a fridge magnet, consider creating one as a gift. It can’t get more personalised than this. And don’t forget to share your fridge magnet on our social media channels.
