How to make Dalgona Coffee

Here is a twist for your quarantine caffeine fix! This creamy four-ingredient coffee known as Dalgona in South Korea has gone viral (in a good way) earlier this year. #CoffeeWhip it good!

Dalgona Coffee is a cold latte drink that has a thick and velvety coffee foam on top. Although the origins seem to be from Korea, I remember my dad showing me this recipe a long time ago before we even had the internet. Guess I am showing my age ?

So how do we make this? Quite simple. It has only four ingredients.

  1. 2 tbsp instant coffee or espresso powder
  2. 2 tbsp sugar. Any sugar should work as long as it is granulated.
  3. 2 tbsp very hot water
  4. 400ml milk

Seems fairly simple, but the hardest part is to make it look like the picture. Don’t worry if you don’t get it Instagram worthy, it will still taste great!

Alright lets get to it. Follow the steps below

  1. Add instant coffee, sugar and hot water to a mixing bowl. Use an electric hand-held mixer if you have one. You could use a whisk but that would mean breaking into a sweat as you will need to whisk the mixture till it is light brown and fluffy.
  2. Now add the milk to a glass, you can heat the milk if you prefer and slowly spoon the coffee mix on top and smoothen it with a spoon.
  3. Enjoy
